We set the scene with a visit to District 6 before heading out to Athlone on the Cape Flats, beginning our deep dive into life in this diverse Community. In Athlone, we see first-hand the role of the "Coloured"/Mixed Race South Africans in the Liberation Struggle by visiting significant sites and monuments which tell the story of those who have paid the ultimate price in the Struggle. We visit the home of the quintessential Cape Flats go-to meal, the Gatsby, and explore other tastes, sights and sounds from this area. The tour includes an optional visit to a local artist or a local aunty for a koeksister tasting.

We set the scene with a visit to District 6, before making our way to Hanover Park. Here we meet the members of a Project, who are doing phenomenal work in their community. At the project, we learn about the gangs in the area and how gang culture has shaped and influenced the community. We meet those who have stepped out of this life and learn about the programmes and activities in place to assist with this exit. After enjoying a typical Cape Flats Lunch, we take an optional stroll to a community-based organisation focussing on giving young people an alternative to being on the street, started during the Covid19 pandemic
