Elephant Brush Down Experience

Guided Tour (trained Elephant Guide). Full Elephant Introduction in Forest and tour of the Sanctuary and night shelter. Touching and interacting with Elephants. Walking hand-in-trunk with Elephants. Feeding (Elephant Food of R30.00 included). The opportunity to purchase a DVD in full HD of your experience with the Elephants. Guests are guided on foot through The Elephant Sanctuary. Guides will provide in-depth information and insight into African elephants. You will be introduced to our elephants in the forest area, and here you will be able to touch and interact with the elephants. You will see the special relationship that the elephant handlers share with their elephants and become a part of it. Walk trunk-in-hand with the elephants. See the night shelters where the elephants sleep at night. Guests learn about elephant anatomy and are able to feed them. On some hot or rainy days you may see the elephants swimming. Enjoy a drink and visit our curio shop. Remember to wear flat walking shoes, sun hats and bring your camera. Brushing the elephants down is offered on the Elephant Brush down Experience Tour which starts at 07h30 and 15h30. We offer various tours depending on the duration and intensity of experience you desire. The different tours are listed below with summaries as to what to expect and the rates.

Green Route Tubing SUP Combo

RED ROUTE GORGE TUBING also available The trip includes a 20min scenic forest drive from Storms River Village to the drop off and pickup point in the old Storms River Pass. At rivers edge you recieve your tube and we take you for a short upstream paddle to a sandy beach where we sling our tubes over our shoulders and walk a further 200m to the next calm pool. Now we jump onto our Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUP) and paddle approximately 800m further to a 8m optional cliff jump. Don't worry we'll demonstrate first and if your up for it you're welcome to take the leap. Whilst the brave hearts are leaping those that want to take the day a little easier are kept entertained with activities like SUP handstands, tube balancing and swimming. A well earned chocolate bar marks the turn around point at the Jump site and we paddle back to where our tube were left at rivers edge. From here we now take you on a spectacular round route down stream tubing pool hop back to the low water bridge where we started. The Green Route forest experience entails 1.5 fun-filled hours of mild activity in exquisite Tsitsikamma scenery. It is therefore suitable for folks of various fitness level and families with small children 5 years and up. Our access to the Storms River takes you on an exquisite journey though pristine forest. Please note: Tubing experiences vary according to changing river levels and weather conditions. So please call a day in advance for advice. Most (90%) of our trips are conducted on medium-low to low water and the trip entails pool paddling, bouldering and walking, tube jumps, swimming, and optional rock jumps up to 8m in height. (short pour over and shoot rapids are water level dependent)

GREN ROUTE TUBING SUP COMBO also available The trip includes a 20min scenic forest drive from Storms River Village to the drop off point in the Goesa Nature Reserve where you'll receive your tube. Fully kitted with specialized equipment and guided by local expert guides, a steep 800m walk down the side of the gorge gets you to river's edge Now the fun begins... for the next 4-5 hours we'll be negotiating our way down this phenomenal river by means of flatwater paddling, bouldering, optional tube and cliff jumps with lots of laughs and spectacularly unique scenery. Half way down we stop for a recharge with a chocolate bar and a tube balancing session. The cascade down double dumper brings us to our last few pools before the canyon majestically opens out at the Storms River Mouth Suspension Bridges in the famous Tsitsikamma National Park. Our exit at the concrete jetty brings us to the suspension bridge boardwalk that takes roughly 20min to walk back to the parking area where our shuttle bus awaits. The drive back through the National Park to Storms River Village takes 20min and back at Tube ‘n Axe a well earned hot shower and ‘lekker braai’ round off the days activity with complimentary media and a cash bar This trip is not suitable for children under 12 years old or for very unfit folks. Follow the elephant migratory route, passing yellowwoods, and stinkwoods, while hearing about the history of the area and the indigenous fauna and flora. We take you back centuries ago, observed silently by giant trees, gently nodding their green heads in the soft Tsitsikamma breeze. The tour takes place in a pristine wilderness environment carefully selected for its uniqueness and unsurpassed beauty allowing clients to absorb the beauty of the indigenous forest. Information is presented by trained professional guides explaining culture, fauna, and flora such as the Knob Wood tree originally used for toothache by the Khoisan, identifying plants such as the “Bushman’s bedding” which was used as a natural insect repellent.
