India Venster Hiking Route

The hike starts at the lower cable car station and begins with a sharp ascent for the first 30 minutes. Things become more forgiving as the trail winds its way along single track and over small boulders, up the mountain. Soon India Venster hikers will come across the famous ‘Window’ (Venster in Afrikaans); an iconic picture opportunity with a massive boulder hanging threateningly above your head. Two thirds of the way up the mountain, hikers will be met by the famous ‘staples & chains’; this is a short series of climbing aids that will assist you in ascending some steep rock faces. This is not climbing but requires a good head for heights. The route then curves around the side of Table Mountain and opens up beautifully to views of the 12 Apostles and Camps Bay. It is then a relatively short and flat walk to top out on Table Mountain’s summit. Once on the summit, there will be the chance to take an extended break at a semi-secret location and simply absorb all of the amazing surroundings. Having taken any and all desired pictures, you will slowly make your way to the cable car station having ascended one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. Transport is complementary to the first 4 pax booked (subject to availiablity).

Spectacular vineyards cover these mountain slopes settled more than 300 years ago by the Huguenots, who brought with them their age-old French wine and food culture. Pairing locally produced chocolates with their wines is the perfect way to round off your special day. Kasteelspoort Hiking Route

Kasteelspoort is a classic and beautiful Table Mountain route which should not be missed. It is longer, more forgiving and more scenic than many of the mountains other routes. The ascent is more forgiving than other routes and guides hikers up a massive ravine known as Kasteelspoort (Castle’s Gate) towards the top, but not before passing Breakfast Rock – the site of the old cable car lower station and an amazing place to have, well, breakfast, or a light snack. Once at the top of the initial ascent, hikers will be taken to probably the most famous photography spot on the mountain – the diving board. This is a surfboard like rock that juts out over the abyss one has just hiked up. It is not for the faint-hearted but is well worth it for the picture. From here, Kasteelspoort hikers will then make their way through the Valley of the Red Gods, an undulating 2 hour walk towards the Table Mountain summit. Along the way are amazing sections of flora to look out for. Once on the summit, hikers will be afforded amazing views of the City Bowl, surrounding Oceans and Robben Island and there will be the chance to take an extended break at a semi-secret location and simply absorb all of the amazing surroundings. Having taken any and all desired pictures, you will slowly make your way to the cable car station having ascended one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. Lionshead being its own peak is a popular route for sunrise or sunset hikes. Definitely one of the shortest hikes in the nature reserve offering spectacular views, and giving a full hiking experience. If you have limited time or are just in for a shorter hike Lions head is a great peak to summit. Quick route description THERE ARE A VIEW DIFFERENT WAYS TO START OUR LOINS HEAD HIKE DEPENDING ON WHERE WE WILL FIND PARKING. FROM THE MAIN START WILL HAVE QUICK ELEVATION GAIN UP THE JEEP TRACK UNTIL THE PATHWAY BECOMES A SINGLE TRACK TO THE BACK OF LIONS HEAD. THE FURTHER DOWN START WILL HAVE A MORE GRADUAL SINGLE TRACK, TO BEGIN WITH AND THEN A QUICK AND STEEP INCLINE TO THE MAIN ROUTE. FOLLOWING IN ALMOST A SPIRAL AROUND LIONS HEAD WELL REACH ONE OF TWO OPTIONS AGAIN. THE ON A MORE ADVENTURES CLIMB WITH SOME STAPEL LADDERS ALSO THE QUICKER Way up. an easier alternative is available if heights are not for you. both routes link up again for the final incline to the top of the peak. spectacular views to all sides and a different perspective of table mountain. Difficulty: easy to moderate India Venster Hike Duration: 3.5 up and down Hike Distance: 5,5 kilometers (3,4 miles). Elevation Gain: 669 meters (2,195 feet).

Lion’s Head is arguably one of the most awesome Mountains to climb in all of South Africa! It is short and sweet and provides the most accessible and beautiful 360 degree views of Cape Town compared to Table Mountain. After a safety briefing, we will start our hike up one the most climbed Mountain in Africa stopping along the way to marvel at spectacular flora and fauna and to learn about the sprawling historical city below. After an exhilarating 1:30 hour hike up Lion’s Head we will have summited and will be able to enjoy amazing views of The Atlantic Ocean, Table Mountain, Camps Bay and the City Centre. Once everyone has enjoyed the spectacular scenery, views and got some cool pictures, we will descend safely down the mountain having had a lovely adventure! Join our sunset Hike up Lion's Head and make friends from around the world while soaking up Cape Town's famous sunsets from the best vantage point possible! The hike up to the summit takes roughly 1.5 hours but passes many incredible viewpoints and the trail is very exciting in places! After enjoying the summit views and photo opportunities we will hike down to a quieter viewpoint to sip some hot tea/coffee and watch the sun set over the Atlantic Ocean. Once the sun sets we hike safely back down with head torches as the city lights start to glow beneath us.
