Enjoy the splendour of the third largest Canyon in the world. Unquestionably being the largest 'green canyon' due to its lush Subtropical foliage. An interpretation tour by a tour guide will take you to the you to the rare living Kadishi Tufa waterfall and the Three Rondawels. An abundance of wildlife will keep you distracted while learning more about the natural history of the Blyde Canyon. The Blyde River canyon supports large diversity of life, including numerous fish and antelope species as well as Hippos and Crocodiles, primate species and a diversity of birdlife such as the African Fish Eagle, African Finfoot and much more. Possibly the best view in the whole of the Blyde River Canyon is of the "Three Rondavels", huge, round rocks, thought to be reminiscent of the houses or huts of the indigenous people, known as rondavels. The Canyon is famous for the Kadishi Tufa waterfall. At 200m (around 660 feet) in height it is the second tallest Tufa waterfall on earth. In the case of the Kadishi Tufa fall, the formation that has been produced strikingly resembles a face which is crying profusely, and is thus sometimes known as the weeping face of nature.

Be inspired, enlightened, educated and enthused by this memorable and respectful opportunity to meet and learn more about some of the Jabulani herd elephants and their passionate carers. Arrive at sunrise to meet a few members of an extraordinary family, the Jabulani Herd. Delve deeper into the biology and physiology of these gentle giants while learning about each elephant's unique personalities and remarkable stories. The respectful 90-minute experience takes place at the Jabulani elephant stables, which borders the HERD elephant orphanage. The Orphanage does not allow the public to visit their premises or to view the orphans, to keep their stress levels to a minimum. The Jabulani Herd elephants that you will meet represent the rest of the herd which they join a little later to continue foraging during their days in the Kapama Private Reserve. There will be between two to three elephants introduced who remain behind a low partition creating a respectful distance between the elephants and the visitors. Visitors will have an opportunity to provide some elephant snacks to each elephant, as well as a chance to take a snapshot memory of the memorable experience, with the guidance of the carers. Complimentary coffee and tea with biscuits will be provided upon arrival and available to enjoy until the end of the experience. Following your Elephant Moments experience, you will have the opportunity to purchase a souvenir in our gift shop, with proceeds going towards the HERD TRUST. Experience the thrill of soaring above the ground on this 20-minute microlight flight near Hoedspruit in Limpopo province. A short microlight flight is the perfect way to get a taste of what it’s like. You can let an experienced pilot take control, or you can have a hand in flying yourself. If you’re very lucky, you might even spot game from the air, including members of the Big Five. Microlight flights offer a unique perspective on game-viewing – you’ll see animals in a way you never have before. If you really enjoy it, you can opt for longer microlight flights. You have the option to sit and experience the flight and view the game or you can have hands on experience from the first flight should you so wish. The choice is yours.

As we leave the stables, we enter the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate for a safari like no other. There is no loud sound of an engine, only the clip-clop of horse’s hooves, as we search for animals while winding our way through the African bush. The estate is home to giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, waterbuck, sable, nyala, impala, kudu, steenbok, duiker, warthog and leopard to name a few, however, the chances of seeing all of these can never be guaranteed but it’s the anticipation of what’s around the next corner that makes the bush so exciting. The trail follows a riverine course, which contains two dams (the second dam can only be reached on the 2-hour trails), where one can hope to see a variety of game quenching their thirst. Whether you’re a bird watcher, animal lover or just here for the ride, a horseback trail is the perfect way to experience the bush in its most natural form. We offer a 1-hour or 2-hour trail option and cater for both beginners and advanced riders.
