Be inspired, enlightened, educated and enthused by this memorable and respectful opportunity to meet and learn more about some of the Jabulani herd elephants and their passionate carers. Arrive at sunrise to meet a few members of an extraordinary family, the Jabulani Herd. Delve deeper into the biology and physiology of these gentle giants while learning about each elephant's unique personalities and remarkable stories. The respectful 90-minute experience takes place at the Jabulani elephant stables, which borders the HERD elephant orphanage. The Orphanage does not allow the public to visit their premises or to view the orphans, to keep their stress levels to a minimum. The Jabulani Herd elephants that you will meet represent the rest of the herd which they join a little later to continue foraging during their days in the Kapama Private Reserve. There will be between two to three elephants introduced who remain behind a low partition creating a respectful distance between the elephants and the visitors. Visitors will have an opportunity to provide some elephant snacks to each elephant, as well as a chance to take a snapshot memory of the memorable experience, with the guidance of the carers. Complimentary coffee and tea with biscuits will be provided upon arrival and available to enjoy until the end of the experience. Following your Elephant Moments experience, you will have the opportunity to purchase a souvenir in our gift shop, with proceeds going towards the HERD TRUST. Please note: the Jabulani Lodge Guests enjoy a variety of exclusive elephant experiences different to the Elephant Moments Mornings. Cancellation of bookings for Elephant Moments services will only be accepted up to 16h00 the afternoon prior to the booking. 50% cancellation fee will be charged for cancellations made after this time. 100% cancellation fee will be charged for a ‘no show’. Additions or amendments to a confirmed booking will only be accepted if possible and only up to 17h00 the afternoon prior to the booking. The charge would be for the number of people that booked for the activity. A 100% cancellation fee will be charged for late arrivals that are unable to participate Management reserves the right to cancel an activity at any time should it become necessary due to security and/or safety risk, or if weather conditions do not allow interaction to continue, or if it is felt that the wellbeing of the animals or the safety of the guests is being jeopardized. In this case full refunds will be applicable. No children under the age of 6 will be permitted to join the Elephant Moments activities No person will be allowed to participate in an Elephant Moments activity without having signed the necessary indemnity documents. Guests need to be the Kapama Main Gate on the R40 between Hoedspruit and Klaserie by 06:10am - late arrivals cannot be accommodated due to the inconvenience it might cause other guests. You will be met there and escorted to Elephant Moments. As we are dealing with animals in a wild environment, programs, availability and confirmations are all subject to factors which are beyond our control.
Only early mornings can be booked as the herd heads off into the bush for the remainder of the day Please see the gallery for previous special elephant moments, kindly note that each day is unique and dependent on the herd's movement
