We offer morning and an afternoon game drives in the reserve. The game drive usually takes about 2.5 to 3 hours depending on what we come across. Game drives leave at 9 AM and 2 PM, and starting point is the West Coast Padstal ensuring everyone can access easily and has a safe place to park. From there it is a 5 minute drive in your safari vehicle to the reserve gate. During your game drive, depending on your interests your guide will determine which route to take and what to look for, depending on weather and season, you may also get a chance to get out of the vehicle and join the guide in looking for tracks, unique plants or a better vantage point to wildlife. As we don’t have dangerous game on the reserve this is all safe. The game reserve is home to Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest, Impala, Spingbok, Eland, Kudu and Hartebees and a range of more elusive creatures to look out for, such as the Waterbuck, Steenbok, Porcupine and Caracal. On occasion we find tracks of Leopard will you be the lucky ones to see it? Our game drives are done in our open game driver viewer (Land Rover Defender), with a maximum of 9 passengers, ensuring that everyone has a front row seat and can hear our guide properly during the safari. A good safari is built on a good guide, all our guides are certified to ensure you get the best possible experience. Our standard game drives are on a shared basis you you might have other visitors with you on game drive. If you would prefer to have the vehicle to yourself, you can book the full vehicle as a private booking for 3500R. 1:45pm – Arrive at West Coast Padstal, have a coffee and a rusk, meet your guide for a short briefing and great your fellow adventurers. Last chance for a regular (non bush) toilet break. 2:00 pm – Your guide will take you to your safari vehicle, and you will head out for a short drive on the road (10min), before entering the Game Reserve to start your safari. 3:15 pm – Coffee/Tea break, a moment to stretch your legs and have a look around, before continuing on your safari. 4:15 pm – Start heading back. 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm – Arrive back at Padstal. As this is a private safari some flexibility is possible in adjusting the below to your needs and interests: 8:45 am or 13:45 - Arrive at West Coast Padstal, have a coffee and a rusk, meet your guide for a short briefing and great your fellow adventurers. Last chance for a regular (non bush) toilet break. 9:00 or 14:00 – Your guide will take you to your safari vehicle, and you will head out for a short drive on the road (10min), before entering the Game Reserve to start your safari. 10:15 or 15:15 – Coffee/Tea break, a moment to stretch your legs and have a look around, before continuing on your safari. 11:15 or 16:15 – Start heading back. 11:45 or 16:45 pm - Arrive back at Padstal. An action packed and immersive experience on the West Coast, ideal for visitors to Cape Town that want to venture out. You will be picked up by private transfer from your hotel/home in the wider Cape Town region to immerse yourself in nature and culture alike. Your first stop will be a 3 hour safari experience on the West Coast Private Game reserve just outside Yzerfontein. Here you will jump on our 9 seater Safari Land Rover, and have a chance to see Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest, Eland, Kudu, Waterbuck, Hartebeest, Impala, Springbok, Ostrich and a range of smaller animals indigenous to our reserve. After your Safari, you will have a short (15 min) transfer to Khwa Ttu, where you will first enjoy a 3 course lunch (included in the price). After lunch you will have a choice of 2 of their guided tours at the heritage centre to learn more about the history and natural context of the San People of Southern Africa. After your tours you can have a wander around their beautiful museum before being transferred back to Cape Town in time for dinner. The below program is approximate and will amongst others depend on your pick-up location 7:00 am – Early pickup from your hotel to make your way towards Yzerfontein. Make sure you have had breakfast before you jump in. 8:30 – Arrive at the West Coast Padstal, where you will check in for your Safari and receive your welcome briefing from your guide. Also a good chance to stretch the legs and have a toilet stop. 9:00 am – Hop on the Safari Vehicle (sometimes shared with other safari enthusiasts), and drive to the entrance gate of the Game Reserve (5 min), from where the Safari will start. Enjoy a game drive on the reserve and learn more about West Coast Flora and Fauna from your guide. 10:30 am – A coffee/tea stop in the bush and a chance to stretch your legs, there will be some light snacks served as well 11:00 am – 12:00 pm – Continue your game drive as you start heading back towards the gate. 12:00 pm – Arrive back at the Padstal, say goodbye to your guide and head onwards to Khwa Ttu 12:30 pm – After a welcome drink, you will be brought to your table and have a scrumptious 3 course lunch at Khwa Ttu’s restaurant. 1:30 pm – Once you have finished your lunch you can pick 2 of the available guided tours at Khwa Ttu, covering different aspects of life and history and culture of the San People. each tour is approximately 45 minutes. 3:30 pm – Say your goodbyes to your San Hosts, and start heading back to Cape Town. 5:00 pm – arrive back at your hotel/home in time for Dinner

West Coast Safaris is now offering a Safari daytrip including transfers to and from Cape Town, to cater to those who dont have access to their own vehicle, or would like to travel without any hassle. You will start your day bright and early from (around) Cape Town, where our transfer driver will pick you up around 7am, to start heading towards Yzerfontein. The drive to the West Coast will be approximately 1.15 min to 1:45 minutes depending on where you start from in Cape Town as well as traffic. You will arrive at our booking office just outside the game reserve in time to have a toilet break and meet your guide, after which you will join the 9 am Safari. The game drives are in our 9 seater safari Land Rover and expert guided. You will have a chance to see Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest, Eland, Kudu, Waterbuck, Hartebeest, Springbok, Impala, Ostrich and many of the smaller West Coast Wildlife. After your game drive you will arrive back at our booking office where our driver will be waiting for you. You will have access to the transfer vehicle and driver for a total of 8 hours (from departure from Cape Town), giving you ample free time to go for a walk on the beach and/or have lunch in Cape Town. If you are in a rush, our booking office is right next to the Weskus Padstal, where you can grab a quick bite before heading back. 7:00 - Pickup from hotel/home in Cape Town area 8:45 - Arrival at West Coast Safari Booking office 9:00 - Head out with your guide, for the 5 minute drive to the Game Reserve Gate, where your safari will start. 10:30 - Bush Coffee/Tea stop, with a chance to stretch your legs 11:30 - 12:00 - Arrive back at Booking Office 12:00 - 13:30 - Free time with access your driver-guide. Go for lunch or have a walk on the beach 13:30 - Start heading back to Cape Town 15:00 - Arrive back at your accomodation
