5 DAY KRUGER PARK BUDGET SAFARI Enjoy a 5-Day Kruger National Park Open Vehicle Safari with Vomba Tours & Safaris. The KNP is one of the world’s leading nature reserve, boasting Africa’s Big 5 and many more species of mammals, reptiles and birds. One has great chances of encountering lion, elephant, leopard, and buffalo on a 3 to 5-day safari; 95% of our clients are lucky enough to encounter the Big 5. We have many zebras, giraffe, hippos, and other species that your ranger will teach you all about. Vomba Tours & Safaris make use of private accommodation venues just outside the main gates, ensuring availability and top-class quality service.
Day 1: Transfer & Afternoon safari. (Dinner included)
NB: All transfers depart at 7:30 am daily from the OR Tambo shuttle/bus terminal.
Vomba Tours and Safaris makes use of Ashtons Shuttle services; the leading shuttle operators to and from Kruger National Park. They depart strictly at 7:30 am one needs to be at the bus terminal by 7:15 am (Please don’t be late they have to depart in these specific time slots)
You will arrive in Hazyview at 12:30 pm where you will be met by your safari guide who will transfer you to Gecko Lodge or Numbi Hotel (subject to availability). These are both 3-star lodges and just a 15 min drive from Phabeni or Numbi gate of the Kruger National Park.
There will be sufficient time to check-in and settle before you are collected at 14:30 pm for your first safari; this will be a relaxed late-afternoon / sunset safari. The cats are most active in the early mornings, so we will mainly focus on the planes game like Zebra and giraffe.
We depart the park at gate closing times this just before sunset and return to the hotel after a long day. You will then enjoy dinner, some leisure time and an early night in bed, as you will need to rise early the next morning.
Day 2: Full Day open vehicle safari in the Kruger National Park (Breakfast & Dinner included)
Our safari starts very early, before sunrise, to the Kruger National Park in specially fitted open vehicles. We enter the park at one of the best wildlife areas; here you will spend the day on a safari with your ranger and we will visit various water holes, lookout points & rivers.
We have our breakfast, which was pre-packed by the lodge, at a local rest camp and then continue our safari looking for the mighty Big 5, not missing out on over 100 mammal & 500 bird species – your ranger will ensure the very best experience. Your guide will stop at a local rest camp for lunch where there is a great menu, then we continue with our safari.
We return to the lodge late afternoon (around 4 pm) after a great day on safari. You can then relax and even jump into the swimming pool before we have dinner at and get to bed early again before the next day’s Panorama Tour.
Day 3: Full Day Panorama tour. (Breakfast & Dinner included)
Today we awake slightly later and, after a hearty breakfast at the lodge, we make our way in an air-conditioned closed vehicle towards the Picturesque Mpumalanga Highveld.
We will visit the world’s third largest canyon – the Blyde River Canyon – as well as the Three Rondavels and a small town called Graskop, where we will have lunch and do some souvenir shopping. We also visit Bourke’s Luck Potholes, found in the Blade River and surrounding waterfalls like Lisbon and Mac Mac falls. It is meant to be a relaxed day.
We return in the afternoon for some leisure time, a swim, and time to rest after the past few exciting days. We have dinner and get to bed for the next day’s animal sightings in the Park.
Day 4: Full Day open vehicle safari in the Kruger National Park. (Breakfast & Dinner included)
You will have to get up before the sun has risen to depart on another safari with your same ranger as the previous day, but then you get to experience the gorgeous sunrise again. We will visit a different area of the KNP than the day before and the guide will focus on finding different wildlife that might have alluded to you the day before.
We will visit various water holes, lookout points, rivers, and have our pre-packed breakfasts at a local picnic venue. After that, we will visit bird hides and look for the mighty Big 5 again.
Where we stop for breakfast and lunch – as the day before – depends on the guide’s choice and the direction he chooses to take in the KNP on the day. We return to the lodge at around 4 pm for a swim, relax and catch up on the last few days of pictures and experiences. But be sure to get to bed early, as you will have to get up early for your final safari the next day.
Day 5: Morning Safari and transfer back to Johannesburg. (Breakfast included)
We depart early again from the lodge on your last safari, taking your luggage with us this morning and entering the park as the sun rises. We will have another breakfast with the packs supplied by the lodge and continue the safari until 11:30 am. Then we leave the park and make our way to Perry’s Bridge in Hazyview where you will meet up with the Ashtons shuttle at 12:00 pm and make your way back towards the shuttle terminal at OR Tambo. There you will depart to your various lodges and hotels after a great safari experience.
PLEASE NOTE:
We mostly book with lodges and hotels outside of the Kruger Park as there is a bigger variety of accommodation and it’s only a 10-minute drive to the nearest entry gate. All the accommodation venues are privately owned.
We cannot take children under 8 on shared safaris but please request a quote on private safaris.
Clients flying out of OR TAMBO on last day to please not book flights earlier than 20:00 pm for domestic flights and 21:00 pm for international flights as one cannot always guarantee on-time arrival at OR Tambo International airport.
Clients should arrive the day before their tour starts to avoid missing the shuttle to Kruger national park, as this vehicle is not private and cannot be delayed.
