"Visit up to three wine estates along one of the main, the winelands routes. Wine estates can be suggested based on your personal preference, or our experienced tour guides will discuss options with you on the day. See the beautiful university town of Stellenbosch, with a panoramic tour of the town's oak-shaded streets that are lined with cafes, boutiques and art galleries. Cape Dutch architecture gives a sense of South Africa's Dutch colonial history, as do the Village Museum's period houses and gardens. Drive via the scenic Helshoogte Mountain Pass towards Franschhoek. Here you will have a panoramic tour and free time. Optional visits in Franschhoek include either the Huguenot Memorial Museum and neighbouring monument, which honour the area’s French settlers, who arrived in the 17th and 18th centuries. Alternatively, you can visit Franschhoek Motor Museum, which displays vintage cars amid mountain farmlands. Last wine tasting will be at Rupert and Rothschild Estate (a prestigious joint venture between the late Dr Anton Rupert of South Africa and Baron Benjamin de Rothschild of France – both with deep interests in wine and owners of private vineyards in their respective countries). Montagu has beautiful historical buildings and sometimes people say: “If these walls could talk...” History is preserved through the stories we tell. Your guide, Marchelle van Zyl, will be telling you the stories of the mischievious, the naughty ones and the scary ones who lived here and never left... During the tour you will hear stories about the history of the town as well as stories of some of the characters who lived here. Marchelle gathered the stories from the town’s people. Whether you want to believe it or not, it is up to you. Some of the stories are just outrages, others might send a chill down your spine. The tour is informative and fun. No one with a white sheet is going to jump out from behind a tree. Well, if they do, it isn’t planned... Definitely a must do in Montagu! Learn about the history of the town as well as some of the strange and wonderful characters who lived here and don't want to leave. Who knows, if you are lucky, you might meet one of them... Tours are on specific nights, but special family events, birthdays or events can be organized. Minimum of 4 people on a tour. If you bring your own bike, you get a 20% discount. Also, available as a walking tour.

This tour combines the beautiful scenery and sites of Historic Stellenbosch with excellent wine pairings and some healthy outdoor exercise. The tour starts 9:00 at Adventureshop (located at Blackhorse Centre, Corner of Dorp and Mark Street). Each rider will collect a bike and helmet to suit their size. E-Bikes also available. We will carry a snack pack for each rider and the guide will have space in the backpack for those who would like to buy wine en-route. The tour starts with a historic tour of Stellenbosch, visiting some of the historic sites in town. We will cycle through Stellenbosch and head to the scenic Jonkershoek Valley. A winding road through oak and poplar forests will take you to a wine estate nestled in the valley bottom, here you can take in the stunning views while doing wine tasting of award winning wines on an island in a lake. On the way out of the valley, you will stop at another wine estate which sports beautiful grounds and historic Cape Dutch architecture. Here we will do a cellar tour before we start our Chocolate and Wine pairing that will make your taste buds tingle. After the tasting we will head back into Stellenbosch Town via the Stellenbosch University before ending the tour again at our office There are some variations to the route, with varying levels of difficulty so the tour can be tailored to suit your cycling ability. Family tours can also be booked. NEW: Option to do the tour on an E- bike at an additional cost of R150 per bike Children under 5 years are free (cycle in baby seat with parents). Children who cycle on their own, full rate. Children will do Chocolate and Ice tea tasting.

Your guide will meet you at your hotel in Stellenbosch and transport will be provided to the starting point of the walk. The vineyard trail meanders through beautiful wine farms in the Banhoek valley between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek While walking this beautiful piece of earth your guide will tell you more about wine making, the indigenous flora and fauna and life on a wine estate in general. During the walk we will visit two wine estates for tastings and a cellar tour before we head to our final lunch stop. For lunch we will have the famous chef’s selection of cheeses, antipasti and charcuterie platters (vegetarian options also available). Sample these local delicacies while enjoying amazing views of the mountains and vineyards of the Banhoek valley. Transportation back to your hotel will be provided.

HALF DAY HORSEBACK WINE TOUR

Our Half Day Horse Back Wine tour sets off from the Pink Geranium Nursery. We ride on Joostenberg Wine farm, before crossing over the Motorway (via a bridge) and on to De Meye Wine Estate. From there we cross to Muldersvlei, where we ride over the hill and onto Arra Estate. The views are truly spectacular with a backdrop of Table Mountain. We regularly see breeding pairs of South-Africa's national bird, the Blue Crane, as well as some small antelope. Once we get to Arra Estate we will untack the horses and enjoy our lunch overlooking the valley towards Table Mountain. We include a Gourmet picnic, which guests enjoy from a lookout on top of the mountain. The picnic is jam packed with locally sourced ham, cheese, bread, olives and salad and a bottle of wine between 2 guests. (Please contact us with any special dietary requirements) After lunch guests have the option of enjoying a wine tasting inside the winery, after which we slowly head back to the Pink Geranium Nursery.
