Become a citizen scientist and learn all about marine biology through an interactive snorkeling experience.
Develop a new appreciation for the ocean environment and the unique character of Cape Town's kelp forests by accompanying Cape RADD marine biologists in this magical place of serenity and wonder.
We start with a crash course on the unique geography of the Cape Peninsula, and the processes that make Cape Town one of the most bio-diverse ecosystems on this planet. Then we follow up with a quick fish and shark identification lesson, where you'll be introduced to the marine life you may see on the snorkel. After that, we get in the water where you help collect data for a research program that investigates the diversity and abundance of the local reef and kelp systems. Let's get wet and submerse ourselves in the underwater forests!
The majority of our time will be spent snorkeling among the vibrant Kelp Forests of the Cape peninsula in Simons Town, Cape Town. We generally dive from a secluded beach that also offers the possibility of seeing penguins and sea otters
Guests must be comfortable swimming as this is a water-based experience. Minors (<12) must be accompanied by an adult.

The full value will be refunded if we cancel due to unsuitable ocean or wind conditions. We will try to cancel within 12 hours of the scheduled trip but reserve the right to cancel at shorter notice if necessary. Cancellations within 48 hours of the scheduled departure time or no-shows will receive no refund or option for reschedule. All cancellations prior to 48 hours incur a 10% administration fee.
