Come and explore with Southern Right Charters on a whale watching trip of a lifetime. Get up close and personal to the gentle giants of the deep. Sighting include mainly Southern Right Whales, however Humpback Whales, Bryde’s Whales, Dolphins and Penguins are also seen quite frequently. Additional sightings include a variety of marine birds as well as the endangered African Penguin. Our custom and purpose built catamaran ensures the ultimate comfort and stability to guests and the numerous viewing platforms allows offer spectacular viewing opportunities for all guests.
Whale season is between June and December when the Southern Right Whales migrate to warmer waters to breed and calve. Trips last between 1h30 minutes and 3h00 and depends on the traveling time to the whales.
Trips depart daily at 09h00, 12h00 and 15h00 from Hermanus, known as the whale capital of the world. Southern Right Charters are permitted up to 50 feet from the whales. It is not uncommon for these curious creatures to swim right up to the boat.

Bookings will be released if the guests have not arrived 15 minutes prior to departure, unless we have been notified telephonically. Cancellation terms apply. Cancellations or amendments received less than 24hrs before time of trip, 100% cancellation fee will be charged. Southern Right Charters shall under no circumstances be liable for any act or omission of any outsourced operators. Upon the confirmation of any booking, it will be regarded that the client has read and accepted all the Terms and conditions. In the event of unforeseeable circumstances policies can be amended at the discretion of Southern Right Charters.
ARRIVAL TIME 30 minutes prior to Trip Departure Time (Strictly) TRIP DURATION 1h30 – 3hrs, duration depends on the time spent traveling to the whales. SIGHTING GUARANTEE At the discretion of the skipper, if the tour is unsatisfactory due to no whale and/or dolphin sightings the guests may be offered a 50% refund. INDEMNITY & LIABILITY All guests are required to sign an indemnity & waiver form on arrival. CHILDREN POLICY All ages welcome. Minors (U/18) must be accompanied by an adult and be under their supervision for the full duration of the tour. All children aged 12 years and under are required to wear a life jacket for the full duration of the tour. We strongly advise motion sickness syrup for infants and toddlers. No prams are allowed on-board the boat.
